SUUNTO T6 NOW COMPATIBLE WITH TRAINING PEAKS SOFTWARE

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA December 1, 2006 - The Suunto t6, the flagship heart rate monitor in the Suunto training line, is now compatible with the Training Peaks, LLC product line. Training Peaks is the leading provider of online training and analysis software for endurance athletes and coaches. Athletes who use the Suunto t6 can now directly download workout data to CyclingPeaks WKO+ analysis software, which is 100% compatible with TrainingPeaks.com online training software branded Virtual Coach. The combination of desktop and web-based software will allow Suunto t6 users to easily monitor, analyze and plan their training for optimum performance.

“The Suunto t6 is considered one of the most intelligent instruments out there, says Training Peaks co-founder Gear Fisher. “We are excited to show current Suunto t6 users what we have to offer, and we are equally excited to give our clientele the opportunity to own one of the finest heart rate monitors around.”

The Suunto t6 is designed for endurance athletes and coaches, and helps maximize the training benefit of each workout with a detailed analysis of seven different body parameters: heart rate, energy consumption, ventilation, oxygen consumption, respiratory rate, Training Effect, and EPOC (Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption). The Suunto t6 can track speed and distance when paired with Suunto PODS, and can help athletes analyze their performance on hills and at altitude with its built-in altimeter.

CyclingPeaks WKO+, a product of Training Peaks, LLC, has become the “gold standard” in the industry for analysis software in the heart rate, power and GPS categories. Having direct download functionality for the Suunto t6 broadens the software options for the consumer. With WKO+, athletes can now download workout information directly from the Suunto t6 and take advantage of the powerful graphing capabilities. Paired with accurate data from the Suunto t6, the software provides in-depth analysis of the trainee’s performance with enhanced graphing, charting and prescriptive features. Data logging is easy and powerful with one-click upload capabilities. The Suunto t6 user now has a very robust set of tools to manage his or her training.

Training Peaks was founded in 1999 and is now the official software of USA Triathlon, USA Cycling, British Triathlon, and the T-Mobile Team men’s and women’s pro-cycling team. While the majority of Training Peak’s users are training for triathlons, marathons and bike races, a growing number of recreational athletes use the products to maintain fitness. I see you mention that the Suunto T6 measures EPOC, does your software track this as well or will it in the future? It’s an important differentiation with the T6 over other monitors…thank you.

I use to work as a mainframe operator at a telecommunications company. We were responsible for all software and hardware issues. I received a call from an Operator in our customer service group. She stated that the keyboard to her terminal did not work. I had her try the usual things (was the hold button on?). When none of my instructions cleared the problem, I told her I would be over with a new keyboard. When I got there, I reached behind the monitor and unplugged the keyboard. When I picked it up and brought it to my chest to pull the cord from behind the monitor, I felt something wet on my chest. When I looked down there was a large brown wet spot on my white dress shirt. When I looked at the operator, she shrugged and said ‘I forgot to tell you that I dumped my coffee into my keyboard.

Someone I met in university was playing Capture The Flag on campus one night. He saw some girl on the other team, so he started running at her. She ran away, and he kept chasing her. Eventually, he cornered her, at which point she started screaming her lungs out. Apparently she wasn’t part of the game.”

“Ages ago, before I started university, I was wandering around in the twisty backstreets near my school dorm at about 10pm (just wandering, not really going anywhere). This young lady was walking in front of me for a while, when she suddenly broke into a run and disappeared down the street. I was all “Wtf?!?” until I realised that she must have been nervous about some foreigner following her for a couple of hundred meters…

I am a keen mountain-biker, and was the proud owner of a fairly expensive mountain bike. My bike was fitted with ‘V’ brakes, which are extremely effective, though prone to squealing. My dear brother decided to have a ride on my bike one day, while I was out. He noticed the squealing as he cycled down the hill we live on, towards the invariably busy crossroads at the bottom. Being a helpful sort, he headed back home and proceeded to pour a generous amount of 3-in-1 oil onto the brakes, before once more setting off down the hill. The oil worked! The only reported squealing came from my brother, as he slammed into the side of a moving VW Beetle. To this day he sports an impressive scar running from his eye socket to just past his ear.

I hired several laborers to prepare two garden areas for me. They needed some supplies, so I showed them the location of ice water and the bathroom, and left to obtain the supplies. Upon my return, I found an ambulance in front of my home, along with two police cars.

The police informed me that the neighbor had called 911 to report a naked man screaming and running around the yard next door.

As it turned out, one of the laborers had needed to answer the call of nature. Rather than use the bathroom, he went into the woods behind our house, dropped his trousers, and squatted down - right on top of a huge nest of hornets.

He was released from the hospital after a week, having learned a very painful and nearly fatal lesson: always watch where you’re going

I run a fairly cable intensive home network, and I get grief from friends & partner for my neat cabling obsession. But once you’ve tripped over the wires running from your video card to your TV going for a piss at 4am, and chip a tooth when your mouth hits the arm of a chair on the way down, you get neat.”

“I had a stupid boss once that after I had wired everything with color coded patch cables came through the server room and went nuts because he did not want different colored or lengths of cables. I had to redo it all with 6 foot blue cables. I left soon after.

This happened only a few hours ago. I am typing this account with my right hand, because my left is heavily bandaged and very painful. My colleague urged me to share my experience, because we both enjoy and recommended your site.

We work as engineers in Namibia, and my work consists of lots of off-road driving in the bush. That takes its toll on my pickup’s cleanliness, so today I decided to steam clean the vehicle. I realized that I might damage the paint job by using very hot water propelled by a high pressure pump, so I decided to test the water’s temperature and pressure before applying it to the surface of my car. I tested it like a hairdresser does - with the expected result that my hand was severely cut and burned
