Stage 6, Tour of California, Video, Photos & Data

25 February 2007

We have some great photos from Stage 6 posted.

Josep Jufre Pou was in a break for 100k on Saturday, and we have posted his data file for you to see just what it takes to be in a break for that long.

Here is Hunter’s review of his power file:

Josep was in the breakaway today for 100km’s today with 8-men. O’Grady, Rogers, Pate, Two liquigas, etc. Tried to push the pressure on Discovery to get away from Levi.

An awesome file. Here’s what it takes to be in a breakaway in a Pro Tour stage with mountains. Josep won the KOM on Magic Mountain as well. Unfortunately, they were caught with about 1.5K togo in the stage, but a heck of an effort.

His Peak 20 minutes came when the break was getting established and everyone was working hard to keep it going. Notice the hard efforts on the climbs. Super efforts on the climbs, and Magic Mountain is STEEP, nearly 15% in places. Notice that he went up the climb at 14.5mph! Very Impressive.

At the end, on the flats, Josep was strong and pulling well in the break. Very impressive.

It’s obvious that Josep felt good today after the TT. Even though his HR was a bit suppressed today compared to the earlier stages, he is still cranking out the watts. Today was Josep’s highest TSS score of the week at 262.
