Beta Testers Needed for Mac Software
28 March 2007
Finally, an update regarding our Mac Device Agent software.
I know many of you have been wondering what we’ve been doing.. as usual, it’s taken longer than it should, but alas, we are making great progress. We went ahead and re-plumbed our entire underlying data transfer protocols and architecture while we were at it, and we’ve been doing a bunch of back-end database work to support the new systems as well.
Now we’re at the point where we need to expand our testing. We are looking for 5-10 people with Intel or PowerPC Mac’s with OS 10.4 or above to test our forthcoming Device Agent for Mac. Initially, we need folks that have either an SRM, Ergomo or PowerTap power meter for this testing.
If you’d like to volunteer to help us test the new systems, and be the first on the block with native Mac support for your power-meter, please send an email to gear (at-sign) at trainingpeaks dot com with the subject of Mac Beta Tester.
I’ll sort through them and get back to you in a week or so to begin the actual testing.
Thanks!!!

Hi, I’m currently running cyclingpeaks via Parallels on my MacBook Pro. I would relish the opportunity to trial the Mac version side-by-side. I use your s/w virtually everyday. Regards, Angus Barber.

Gear,
I use TrainingPeaks, Read 3D and CyclingPeaks and would love to test any or all on my Mac. I have 3 Mac systems I can test on, 2 Intel (Core Duo and Core 2 Duo) and one G4 Laptop. I use a Computrainer and Garmin Edge, but can also get PowerTap data files to test as well. Ken.

I have the same thing as Angus a Mac book with Parallels. My problem is that I use polar to upload the .hrm files to training peaks. I use infrared to connect from the watch unit. If I could download it on MAC it would be great. I will try anything would like to just download my files into training peaks.
Let me know if I can help

Do you remember the apple newton. I was a beta tester for that awasome machine in its day. I have cycling coach which I download data to on a daily basis with cycling peaks via training peaks. I do that with a pc, but I do my work and spend most of my time on a mac. Love to get rid of my pc.
Thanks,
Dan Farrell

I am a relativly new user to TP - and I just got an Intel iMac for the kids. I have a Powertap and a Polar device I use to upload files. I’d be up for testing it out on the Mac.
Perhaps I can learn some of the finer points on TP working with your dev team.

I would love to beta-test a Mac version as I am about to switch my home computing entirely to Mac machines.

I have a new powertap sl and an imac ppc with OSX 10.4.8. I’d definitely like to be proactive on this one (but if you’re more accustomed to whining and complaining mac users… I can do that too!)

Whenever you are ready to do the Garmin, let me know. Got a 305 Forerunner and am dying to be able to use it at home. For now, I’m having to do the downloads at work.

MacBook Pro (2.0GHz Core Duo), Parallels, Garmin Forerunner 305. Will help beta test Mac Client.
April 2nd, 2007 at 8:01 pm
I have a MacBook Pro (2.0GHz Core Duo) with a Garmin Forerunner 305 and a Edge 305. I’ve been frustrated because Windows based Training Peaks Messenger has not received data from my Forerunner since I upgraded it from 2.60 software to 2.90 software - so, I’d love to test the Mac based Client.

Would love to help. Running WKO on Windows but have both motorola and Intel based macs just waiting to give it a go. Already run PowerAgent on the Mac native and Garmin’s client as well.
I have athletes running SRM, PowerTap, Polar HRM and Garmin so I have data coming in all the time.
I’m also an Apple cert technician and MSCE.
Glad to pitch in.

Greetings,
I bought my Ergomo two or so months ago, and I cannot get it to work on my iMac with Parallels. I have tried several serial-to-usb adapters and countless hours of frustration. I am desperate for the Mac version so I can send my data to my coach! Please help a brother out!

I just purchased an ergomo and had no idea that it wouldn’t work on my mac! I would love to be a part of this! I use an indoor trainer, a computrainer in a studio and ride outside in Charlotte NC. I have a mac and my coach has a PC. Please let me know,as I will have to figure something else out. I teach, so I can’t even do it at work they have so many firewalls up and I can’t add software to my computer there…..

I having using Macs for 8 years and currently using a Garmin 305 and posting on MotionBased as well as Training Peaks. I would love to be a Beta tester. The only reason I use Boot Camp, is to log onto Training Peaks.
April 14th, 2007 at 9:22 am
Hi-currently I run all your software on a dedicated pc hooked up to my computrainer (I also run Powertaps, and will be getting a garmin soon just for fun…) I am a new coached athlete with Richard Wharton, and am just now starting a program with him. Thanks, Sig Anderson. I’m a mac guy and would love to ditch the PC!

Hi there,
I’m running an SRM and don’t want to spend loads of time and/or money installing parallels or (at worse) buying a PC so I can analyse my data.
I would love to test the beta version but if i’m too late please let me know when the mac compatible software is ready to go!
April 19th, 2007 at 11:57 am
I would be interested in being a Beta tester for the new Mac Device Agent software. I use TrainingPeaks and CyclingPeaks but primarily use my Mac laptop. I also upload data from my ergomo.
April 27th, 2007 at 2:55 pm
Is anything happening with this? Did you pick beta testers? I am using a mac and will be sending to my coach’s PC at per4mance training in Charlotte,NC

July 11th, 2007 at 11:35 am
Hi,
I have been quite interested in the Cycling Peaks software and am wondering when a version will be available for Macs. I primarily only use Apples (although I do have a beat-up Gateway laptop which isn’t good for much, and is never used). I really don’t like running Virtual PC on my Apple, so if you are still looking for beta testers sign me up.
Oh, I forgot to mention, I use a powertap.
Thanks,

Any news?
Would love to be able to use my mac directly…
I have an intel iMac and MacBook, powertap, and polar… if you still need testers.

Just in case, I’d like to be a tester as well. I’ve a Powertap Pro, Macintosh G5 with 10.4. I don’t ride as much in the fall and early winter, but I do put on quite a few miles on after that.
December 5th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
I would LOVE to beta test this software. Please contact me if you are still looking for testers. I have an ergomo, and a my mac is a new intel MacBook.
January 12th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
would really love to test wko on a macbookpro/imac. I’m using wireless powertap.
January 12th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
I should also say that I have an edge 305 to go with my wireless powertap.
March 11th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
what is happening with the osx port. booting from parralels (virtualbox is actually better and it is free for individual use and I have tested cyclingpeaks on this) or bootcamp is not good. get some programmers working on this. can you not see the market you are missing out on. if ut is written in c it should not be too hard to port. it looks only like a database query program and graphing the results.
March 29th, 2008 at 7:49 am
I’m just switched to Mac with a new MacBook, I currently am using a SRM unit on my bike and have not started using Training Peaks on my new machine yet. I also currently use the Polar Power System on a second bike. I would be interested in testing the new system.
