TrainingPeaks at BMX Worlds by Hunter Allen

I got to attend the BMX World Championships this past week in Victoria, British Columbia and what a great event. As one of the coaches for the USA Cycling Podium Program BMX athletes, I got to hang out with the best BMXers in the world and work with some of the best people in the world supporting the team. Talk about a great team of people helping out the USA Riders! Former world downhill champ and multi-time BMX champ Mike King is the Team Manager, Greg Romero a former national champ pro BMXer was the head coach, and Dr. Eric Heiden – 5 time Olympic Gold Medalist was the team doc. These are just a few of the inspiring people helping out the team.

Quick tips on Meal Planning and Logging

Find it. Make it a Favorite. Save it as a meal template. Those are the three key things we suggest to all users and dietitians when planning or logging meals. We’ve added a host of features for nutrition planning, but we have also been getting the word out on the fastest, easiest ways to log your meals too.

Find it. Take a moment and go to the Nutrition: Food Search menu option. There you can search for foods from within our database to discover what is there and make favorites. You can also do this through the Meal Manager after you have added a “blank” meal to your Meal Log.

Make it a Favorite. As you find foods in the database, you can “favorite them” which will store that food in your Favorites list. This gives you fast, easy access to common foods without having to re-search the database. Next time, just click “Show” and you’ll see your favorites list.

Meal Templates. As you build meals using the Meal Manager, you can choose to save any meal you create as a Template. Then, next time you want to eat that meal, it’s just one click to add the entire meal to your Meal Log. You can even add multiple meals to your Meal Log all at once using the Express Meal Wizard found on the Meal Log.

With a little time invested in making Favorites and Meal Templates, you’ll find tracking your nutrition is a snap!
