Interbike 2007 - CrossVegas, Crit Finals & Product Launches

19 September 2007

It’s that time of year again for the annual cycling industry social hour trade show! Each year there is a lot to see regarding new products and it is the perfect time to connect with industry folks and friends. Please leave a comment if you plan to be there. Much of the Peaksware (TrainingPeaks and CyclingPeaks) crew will be roaming the hallways, maybe we will see you there.

Cross Vegas!

Cross Vegas will be an epic Cyclo-cross race that will be Wednesday, Sept 26th. I think we’ll see an incredible turnout of riders from across the country, and possibly even Euro-pros. If you have not seen a cross race, they are fun to watch!!

USA Crit Finals

critfinals.gifThe USA Crit Finals will be an incredible event on Thursday night, under the lights near Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino. Our own Dirk Friel will be racing in the Pro event at 9:15pm. Dirk is the reigning Colorado Pro 1/2 Crit champion and is really coming on-form, we hope he’ll have a great ride! It should be an amazing event to watch at night, not to mention the parties afterward.

Product Launches
There are several new products that we know of that will be really cool to see launched. Here’s a run down of a few of them:

Lemond Fitness is rolling out some awesome stationary bikes and spin bikes that are equipped with power meters and they are downloadable! They use a simple USB stick to record data at 1-s intervals, Power, Cadence, HR, Speed, Distance.. the works, and of course, they will come with WKO+! These are incredibly smooth indoor bikes and now with super-accurate power meters, they become full-blown training tools perfect for those winter months.

iBike has several new products/add-ons that are now Ant + Sport compatible, meaining wireless HR and cadence! Great stuff and congrats to them for really listening to their customers and adding enhancements.

Garmin has unveiled a killer combination: EDGE computer + SRM Power Meter compatibility. I personally can’t wait to see this demonstrated. Wireless crank and wireless computer with everything under the sun.. could be amazing, probably not cheap though… Oh well, I’d still buy it!

Quarq announced about a month ago their all new crank-spider based power meter and computer. Wireless, with GPS, Power, HR and the whole ball of wax! They have made quite a buzz in the power world, but, nobody has seen one yet. We are excited to get our hands on one and check it out at the show.

Our friends at ErgVideo will be unveling some of their cool new video training tools for use with a CompuTrainer too. These guys make seriously good software for serious cyclists. Coupled with the power of a CompuTrainer, you’ve got a killer indoor real-life-race-scenario training in your basement.. gotta check it out.

I’m sure there is much more to see, let me know what you’ve heard about or what you find interesting, we’ll get some more info on it and report back.
