Using HealthVault within TrainingPeaks or FitnessPeaks

9 October 2007

The press from last week’s announcement of the Microsoft HealthVault has been tremendously positive! TrainingPeaks and FitnessPeaks are both compatible, and I wanted to show you directly how we have built our applications on top of HealthVault. Why did we do this? Really, its about data portability. You can “save” your data in the HealthVault and share it with other health-care providers. It’s your permanent digital health record. For your fitness or training, that’s where we come in to seamlessly load and sync your fitness/training data to the HV. how? Here’s the steps:

Step 1: Access the HealthVault page from the Preferences Menu

hv1
Step 2: Click the “Link your Account” link to create a Microsoft LiveID account, or use an existing LiveID
hv2
Step 3: Follow the steps to create your LiveID
hv3

Step 4: After creating your LiveID, you are returned to our site and the sync occurs

hv4
Step 5: Once your TP/FP account is linked to your HealthVault ID, you will see a Sync icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Just click that anytime you want to sync your data.

Some Tips:

A full sync of “actual” data is performed, so, if you delete your data inside HealthVault or TrainingPeaks/FitnessPeaks, then sync, your data will be deleted permanently from both systems. Note that a coach’s planned workout descriptions are not sync’d into the HealthVault, but, the prescribed distance, time and workout type, will be sync’d as well as summarized performance metrics.

When I click the button to sync, none of my data is syncing with the Microsoft site. The progress bar still indicates 0% complete.
