Mensana Physiology Lab TruckDirk Friel is getting a chance to watch Dominique Cornu and the rest of the Predictor-Lotto team as they get tested at their winter training camp in Benicasim, Spain.

The lab in which they are being tested is the Mensana Physiology Lab Truck which acts as the teams mobile medical facility. This is an amazing rolling laboratory which includes a Dexa scan and all the latest testing equipment. Click here to see more pictures of the lab. Obviously testing is a huge part of the Predictor-Lotto team strategy.

The team rides 4 to 5 hours a day and then tests in the evenings. Each rider gets tested once and does a lactate/VO2Max test and a separate DEXA scan to view body composition, bone and tissue density. The protocol is for the lactate and VO2Max test to have three minute, 50 watt stages until anaerobic threshold, then they do one minute stages with 10 watt increments until exhaustion.

Riders such as Dominique Cornu also track their riding data using TrainingPeaks software to analyze and monitor their training. Here is Dominique’s training log from today’s team training ride. Click here to see a larger view.
