WKO+ version 2.2 Now Available
3 January 2008Please note! If you install WKO+ 2.2 and think “My charts are gone!” don’t worry! Just change your Perspective view to the “My Athlete Charts”.

Your data is not gone, it’s just in it’s own perspective. This only applies to user’s that had previously custom configured charts.
What’s New in TrainingPeaks WKO+ Version 2.2
We’ve added quite a lot of new features for WKO+ Version 2.2, and many of these revolve around features for other sports than Cycling. You’ll notice we’ve changed the name to “TrainingPeaks WKO+” in regard to our expanding functionality for non-cyclists as well as the closer integration to all the products offered by Peaksware, LLC. While there have been additions to the cycling portion of WKO+, most of the new features have to do with rTSS (Running Training Stress Score) and NGP (Normalized Graded Pace). Runners, Triathletes and Duathletes will now be able to benefit from training with TSS and using the Performance Manager chart. Learn more in our Training with Technology section.
Here’s some great news for our loyal customers: we’ve also decided to make this version a FREE upgrade to all current 2.x users! So, go download version 2.2 today!
For any 1.x customers you can upgrade for 1/2 price of the full retail cost here.
Please note that this version introduces a new file format, which means all old .wko files can be read by version 2.2, but older versions of WKO+ cannot read .wko files saved from version 2.2. Be sure to upgrade to 2.2 to avoid any issues.
New Features include:
Perspectives

This allows you to view not only your Cycling charts, but with the click of a button see your running charts as well. Not a runner? That’s o.k., create a new perspective for all your Hill Climbing workouts. Don’t have a power meter? No problem, you can use the power of WKO+ to configure Heart Rate and Pace charts and only view these when uploading your device. There are an infinite number of perspectives you could build to view your charts just the way you want them.
Import and export Perspectives.
Are you a coach and want your athletes to have all of the same charts on their Athlete Home page as you? Just export the .CHT file and email to your athlete so they can import it and they will have the same view as you! Share your Perspective with the world!
NEW RUNNING FEATURES!
- rTSS (Running Training Stress Score)
- NGP (Normalized Graded Pace) in GPS files.

rTSS and NGP have been created by Dr. Stephen McGregor. He has detailed articles on these features here:

Full Charting support for pace in the Athlete Home Page

Mean Minimal Pace Periodic Chart
o Mean Minimal Pace Curve
o Intensity Factor for Pace,
o NGP, rTSS throughout charts.
o Support for charting TSS combined, rTSS and TSS Power to the Periodic charts and Performance Manager Chart.
o Ability to plot TSS(combined), TSS(pace), and TSS(power) separately on the Performance Management Chart. Great for Duathletes and Triathletes!
Addition of PACE ZONES in the Zone chart in the Athlete Home Page.

Compute your zones using these methods:
o Joe Friel Zones based on his TrainingBible books
o PZI- Pace Zone Index by Matt Fitzgerald and his Cutting Edge Runner book.
New “Heart Rate to Power relationship” metric!

Joe Friel has created a way to examine the markers of effective and efficient steady-state performance including negative-positive splitting and power-pulse drift. This feature appears in the GRAPH of any workout with HR and Power, or HR and Pace. For a detailed review of this please check out this article. http://www.cyclingpeakssoftware.com/power411/decoupling.asp
NEW GPS FILE SUPPORT
Right click options in the “RANGES” window:
· Added ability to manually override altitude channel data for any range (on the Graph View) based upon a starting elevation and supplied grade. Your device must record a speed (or distance) channel in order to make full use of this feature. Primarily, the feature is designed for footpod users who find themselves indoors on a track or treadmill. You can instantly “level” your elevation data. rTSS is sensitive to elevation data, so having the best elevation information is key to obtaining consistent and accurate rTSS and NGP values.
- Elevation correction support (Altitude)

Right-click on any range (or selection) inside the range window (Graph View) and choose the “Fix Elevation Profile using GPS…” menu item. TrainingPeaks.com subscribers will benefit from the ability to actively use the GroundControl elevation correction service in addition to the US Geological Survey service. GroundControl is often 10 to 100 times faster and more accurate for performing the elevation corrections. Be advised that not all surface areas of the earth are available for GPS correction and there are ways to introduce elevation errors using these services. In additional, Peaksware maintains no control over the availability of the USGS service. Look for more detailed instructions on using GroundControl on our blog in the near future.
· Discard individual channels from individual .wko files.
For example, if you run indoors with a GPS unit, it’s very likely that the speed and distance channels will not be accurate. In that instance, you can now delete the speed (and thus distance) channel from the file. Open a workout to the GRAPH page and then click EDIT>DISCARD CHANNELS.
Added a new summary chart to the Athlete View.

Chart displays the most recent six weeks as well as the previous twelve months of useful metrics.
New right click features on the Calendar page:
· Copy workouts on your calendar. Need to make a 2nd copy of a workout to ‘fudge’ in your TSS scores. Now, you can do this right on your calendar.
· Ability to upload directly to TrainingPeaks.
New features under OPTIONS on each Athlete Home and Journal Chart
· Clone to chalkboard
· Move to a new Perspective
Added support for filtering Periodic chart channels by sport.
SUPPORT for NEW Devices and Files
o Support for the new SRM direct download firmware of 6b09
o Added support for Garmin .tcx files created by Training Center v3.3.2 (including extensions for supporting the model 50).
o File Support for LeMond g-force bicycles.
- Added support for importing .txt files created by Computrainer v1.6 coaching software.
- iBike feature support: graph Wind Speed and Hill Slope (iBike) and Implemented Edit> Corrections>Fix downhill watts algorithm for iBike.

We don’t have support for Elite trainers.

Why isn’t there a TSS score created for workouts done with an Edge 305 or Polar heart rate monitors? I would think that you could base both calculations using heart rate, time etc.
January 7th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
We are working on TSS for heart rate training. We are validating the algorithm’s and plan to launch hrTSS in the not too distant future.

I thought there was a way to overlay two workouts on the graph page now. Is there?
