Customer Support Question of the Day
20 June 2008How do I download from my Powertap into WKO+?
Although downloading from a Powertap is not really too complicated, the sequencing of the steps required to correctly download the data from a Powertap into WKO+ is important. In addition, it is also important to install the Poweragent drivers associated with the Powertap device, so that your computer can "communicate" with the Powertap. Instead of shipping these drivers with each Powertap, the device manufacturer has made them available online at their website. Before downloading data from a Powertap, all device users need to visit this website and download the drivers associated with their device. Make sure that all programs are closed and that you disconnect the USB cable from your Powertap cradle when installing Poweragent. Once installed you do not need to run Poweragent.
Once you have downloaded the Poweragent drivers for your Powertap, you are ready to begin downloading your workout data from the device into WKO+. To begin, make sure all training related software is closed (including the Powertap Poweragent software). Then, open WKO+ on your computer. It is important to open the software before you plug your Powertap cradle into your USB port, because otherwise WKO+ will not detect the device. Once you have WKO+ opened, go to the WKO+ Home section of the WKO+ application. Then, plug in your Powertap download cradle to your computer. In Application Settings in the WKO+ Home section of your WKO+ program, select Powertap as the Training Device Type (by clicking once on the white space to the right of Training Device Port, then use the drop down menu that appears). Then select the correct Training Device Port (the right one will have text in parenthesis off to the right of the com number), and open the athlete profile you want to download to (the name should appear highlighted in the Navigation box). Turn on your Powertap headunit and plug it ALL THE WAY in to your download cradle (the Powertap screen should say "Host"). Now, open the file menu and click "Training Device Download", then click "Start Download." The download will process in short segments, so don’t be alarmed if the process seems to be somewhat choppy. Once the file has downloaded, simply double-click on it and the graph of your workout will appear in WKO+. Make sure to remove your Powertap from the cradle to prevent the batteries from running down. Now you get to see how hard you rode!
