IHRSA Trade Show

IHRSAOver the years, we have learned that many of the coaches we work with, also work with a local gym or health club as a personal trainer. We've been listening to their feedback and we're taking steps to roll out some more formal programs for gyms and clubs. Specifically, our message of extending the reach of the local gym through our communication platform, can provide greater membership retention, attract members beyond the physical reach of the club, and generate new and innovative revenue opportunities for the club and personal trainer alike.

We are attending the IHRSA trade show this week to learn more and explore opportunities of expanding toward the personal trainer market. Servicing personal trainers, like we have done (and will continue to do) with endurance coaches, represents a natural extension of where we have been, and where we want to go with our business.

If you happen to be in San Francisco in the next few days, please let me know (gear at-sign trainingpeaks dot com).

Gear,
I had a ticket for IRHSA, given to me by my gym (I am an independent trainer). I only really wanted to see the Saris booth and view the new 'club' bike from CycleOps. I did the early morning ride with Floyd Landis and was able to talk to the Saris team about my future plan of opening up a new Cycling Systems Performance Center here in Marin County. I have been so frustrated with the gym industry not coming to terms of the new methods that are available to us as cycling coaches/trainers and the dollars that can be generated by the trainer and club. After thorough research for my club, they still chose to listen to a spin 'presenter' and got a bike that doesn't really fit alot of people and with no monitor of any kind to be able to quantify fitness gains.
If I had known you guys were going to be there I would have come over.

Hey Alan.. would have been great to see you. The trade show was packed with vendors and we had a good time checking out all the equipment. Saris makes a nice indoor bike for sure. We also checked out this new model from Keiser (makers of very high end gym equipment:

It does power also. There is also the Lemond bikes and a couple others too. Drop me a line as your plans develop for your performance center.
