Silence-Lotto Professional Bert Roesems Training File

Silence

February 29th, 2008

Silence-Lotto professional Bert Roesems has been using TrainingPeaks to manage his training for more than a year. Bert is allowing TrainingPeaks to profile one of his recent training rides from a training camp he attended in Spain in early February.

What is interesting about Bert is he fractured his pelvic and pubic bones in a crash in the 2007 Tour of Spain, and he is still trying to build his strength and cycling economy since his crash.

Here is a short interview conducted with Bert on February 27th:

Q- You broke your hip in last year’s Vuelta. How have you progressed since the accident? Do you have any lingering affects of the injury?

BR- I progressed steadily from my pelvis and pubic bone fracture. The main problem is getting the integrity back from the main muscle groups surrounding my pelvis. This is coming along very slowly.

Q- What are your primary objectives for the 2008 season?

BR- My primary objectives were the ‘Classics of the North’, starting from Omloop Het Volk until Paris-Roubaix like the last couple of years which were succesful. This will be difficult to achieve now. I will take one race at a time and evaluate.

Q- What has your best race result been so far this season?

BR- Best result was 5th place at the opening TTT in the Tour of Qatar (duh!!!).

Q- What type of training are you doing now? what is your primary focus of training now?

BR- Main focus on training now is coordination (with the use of Powercranks), strength efforts and resistance to achieve a high competitive level again.
