USATF Olympic Trials - Athlete Interviews

TrainingPeaks had the opportunity to interview a number of past, present and hopeful Olympic athletes in Eugene, Oregon this past weekend at the USA Track and Field Olympic Trials. Watch the video to hear a few select athletes share "one of their training secrets":

Here's a few notes about the athlete's you just saw:

Willie Banks - Inducted into the USA Track & Field Hall of Fame in 1999, the "Bouncing Barrister" is one of the greatest triple jumpers ever produced by the United States. Read more here.

Shakeema Welsch - Nicknamed "Sky Walker", made the US Olympic team Sunday with a strong 2nd place in the women's Triple Jump. Read more here.

John Godina - Recognized as one of the greatest throwers (shot put and discus) of all time, Godina has winning results going back to 1988... and he's still competing. Read more here.

Mary Slaney (Decker) - Decker is the only athlete to hold every American record from 800 meters to 10,000 meters and she still holds the records in the 1500, mile and 3000. Read more here.

Dave Johnson - Athlete, writer, speaker and athletic director, Johnson is most remembered for his bronze medal in the Decathlon at the 1992 Olympics, won with a stress fracture in his left foot. Read more here.

Dan O'Brien - Olympic gold medalist in Decathlon at the 1996 Olympics, O'Brien is also a five-time national champion and three-time world champion in the Decathlon. Read more here.

Mike Powell - Powell still holds the world record for the long jump he won in 1991 at 29' 4.50". Read more here.

Chris Noffke - Noffke is the youngest Australian man in any track and field discipline to claim a national title which he did in 2005 in the Long Jump. Read more here.

Akiba McKinney - McKinney is a two-time U.S. Indoor champion and third best in the nation in the women's Long Jump. Watch more here.

Jeff Demps - Demps ran the fastest 100m ever by a high school runner Saturday at the Trials. Read more about his record breaking run here.

Stephanie Rothstein - Stephanie ran the 10,000 meter final at the Olympic Trials. Read more about her here.

Blessing Ufodiama - Blessing competed in the Triple Jump at the Olympic Trials. Read more here.
