What's New: Virtual Coach, Export GPS files, and More!

There are a lot of great new features now available on TrainingPeaks, including the new and improved Virtual Coach, the exporting GPS files feature, sharing workout libraries that you own, and more. Check out a full list of what's new on our Support Site, and read on for more below.
Now available on TrainingPeaks, the new and improved, fully integrated VirtualCoach allows fitness professionals and athletes to design an entire year’s worth of workouts based on a periodized schedule created by the Annual Training Plan (ATP) Wizard. By taking into account an athlete’s racing schedule and physical limitations, the ATP Wizard suggests hourly training totals by week, while the Virtual Coach then takes these recommendations a step farther by providing optional weekly workouts for the athlete to complete as desired.
"I'm excited to see the VirtualCoach has been migrated to the new and improved TrainingPeaks web site, “ said Joe Friel. “The VirtualCoach I developed over a decade ago continues to be a powerful tool for any runner, cyclist or triathlete who is looking to plan their season based on the principles in my TrainingBible series of books."
Please note that the new Virtual Coach is not compatible with the classic version of the tool, as we've refined the calculation process on many of the formulas, so it is not possible to move seamlessly between the old and new versions of VirtualCoach. As always, the best way to use TrainingPeaks.com is with a real live coach, but the VirtualCoach is a great low cost tool that provides solid guidance. If you are a runner, cyclist, triathlete or duathlete, give it a try!
Aside from the updated Virtual Coach, another great new tool that we've added is the ability to export a route as a CompuTrainer course, Garmin course or Tacx course.
It works either by manually creating a route on our interactive route builder, or you can convert any uploaded GPS file. Now bring any outdoor ride indoors, or re-ride your favorite outdoor rides. If you use a compatible Garmin device, you can even plan a route and then load it onto your training device, making workouts more guided and structured.
