TrainingPeaks and the Wounded Warriors

image

Marines wounded on the field of battle are using TrainingPeaks to help in their recovery, under the direction of retired Special Operations Marine Brian C. Grenier.

Brian used TrainingPeaks for years to gain a gold medal at North Carolina individual Time Trials in 2008, top ten in his age group at the 2005 USAT Duathlon Nationals, as well as a number of other high level finishes and wins over the years. He now volunteers his time to the exciting and challenging job of using cycling to rehabilitate wounded Marines.

“My selection of Training Peaks to help in the tracking of the progress of our wounded Marines was a matter of course,” Brian explains. "Accuracy, functionality and simplicity are something all managers and coaches look for in tracking software; TrainingPeaks delivers all that and more.  The elite team imagethat will eventually evolve from the initial project will take part in the 1000 Warriors Ride during stage 4 of the 2009 Tour of Utah."

In the first photo, US Marines Travis, Adam and Justin undergo training at the Wounded Warriors Gym at the Marine Corps Base in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Each of these Marines is a Purple Heart recipient. In the second, Brian Grenier rides for the gold medal in North Carolina.

TrainingPeaks is honored to be chosen to support these Marines in their recovery from the injuries they sustained while bravely serving their country.

Ooh-rah, Brian! We're going to make a big deal out of the Wounded Warriors, who will be our guests at the 1000 Warriors race on the hardest stage of the hardest stage race in the USA, the Tour of Utah. Riders/Sponsors who order custom jerseys and who donate at least $100 to the Wounded Warriors' Children's Scholarship Fund (100% of which goes to scholarships, thanks to Larry H. Miller Charities) will get a special emblem on their jersey indicating they supported the Wounded Warriors. And if one of our Warrior riders beats the winning Tour of Utah pro rider winning time (the pros leave 5 hours after the Warriors), then that warrior will get not only the glory, but the winning stage purse of $1000. Ooh-rah!
