Stages 1-6 of the Tour de France

TrainingPeaks has been collecting and sharing daily Tour de France power files in conjunction with SRM, Team Sky and Saxo Bank-SunGard. There has been some amazing data coming out of the stages this past week and a very special thanks must go out to the riders themselves who have provided a unique insider view into the Tour de France.

Chris Anker Sorensen of Saxo Bank-Sungard has provided his daily Tour de France files for the past three years. Sorensen is a true mountain goat who will be one of the last men standing as the race hits the high mountains.
Juan Antonio Flecha of Team Sky is also providing his SRM files. Flecha is a veteran classics rider which the team looks to for leadership. You can easily see from our race analysis that Flecha is a loyal team worker and has already sacrificed his own chances for the overall team goals.
One file that’s well worth taking a look at is the stage 2 Team Time Trial (click the images for a larger view). Here’s the TrainingPeaks File Viewer:
And the WKO+ mark-up:
Chris Anker Sorensen averaged 372w (396np) for 25:15. Sorensen rode on the front eight times at an average of 454w per pull. He lead the team for 5-minutes and was recovering in the team slipstream for 20 minutes. His average watts while “resting” was 336w.
It’s looking like another great year and we’re excited to bring you daily files from some great riders. Don’t forget to enter to win an SRM (and other great prizes) in our Tour Sweepstakes! And if you haven’t downloaded your free 14-day trial of WKO+, now’s a great time to check it out (use it to dig deep into the data in the the daily rider files).
