Top 5 Tour de France Moments to Date as Captured on TrainingPeaks

Very few things get us going like the Tour de France, and with the first full week nearly done, we are in full-on Tour madness mode here at TrainingPeaks! As the official training software of Team Sky, Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank, and ORICA-GreenEDGE; TrainingPeaks is getting daily power data from the pros on these teams as well as Janez Brajkovic (Astana) and Greg Henderson (Lotto Belisol). Then, we do what we do best - provide the expert analysis on this race data. Check out our analyses at trainingpeaks.com/TDF, where you can download screenshots, get highlights of each stage, and even print a PDF of the stages analyses.

So far, here are our top 5 favorite Tour de France moments captured within TrainingPeaks, from the first five days of le Tour:

#5: Janez Brajkovic (Astana) holds 7.1 w/kg and accelerates over 600 W four times in the 0:7:26 prologue, finishing only 22 seconds behind the first rider. Most people can only hold 7.1 w/kg for less than 20 seconds!

#4: We see the what sets the pros apart from mere mortals in terms of endurance and ability to perform on tired legs during Stage 4 as we analyze Chris Anker Sorensen's (Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank) power data. The last hour of Stage 4 was more than twice as hard as the first hour of the stage. Sorenson's first hour average power was 104 W and 151 NP, while his last hour average was 244 W and 295 NP.

#3: Janez Brajkovic (Astana) holds 320 NP for TWO HOURS during Stage 3 - how long could you hold 320 NP??

#2: Daryl Impey (ORICA-GreenEDGE) explodes with 1388 W during Stage 2 during his final lead-out, as he does his part pulling teammate Matt Goss across the finish line third.

#1: Andre Greipel (Lotto Belisol) wins Stage 4 with his teammate Greg Henderson performing a perfect lead-out. Henderson averaged 663 W in the final minute of the lead-out, peaking out at 1150W in the final 17 seconds.

The data keeps rolling in, and we're hard at work cranking out the analysis for you, so be sure to check trainingpeaks.com/TDF periodically for the latest TrainingPeaks power data from the Tour. We're also doing regular Tour de France giveaways on Facebook and Twitter related to our upcoming power analyses, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter and to get notified of each chance to win some awesome prizes.

The high mountain stages start this weekend, and the numbers are about to get BIG - stay tuned here at TrainingPeaks and don't miss out on the action!
